PVE Cranes has delivered 4 cranes to a watertransport pipeline project. This major project consists of constructing a 45-kilometer-long pipeline to transport Rhine water from the intake structure to the mine lakes where it branches off. The goal of this project is to fill the open-cast mines and stabilize groundwater levels after the end of lignite mining in the mining region.
A 240-meter-long tunnel will be constructed as part of the project, with pipes measuring 2,2 meters in diameter installed to create a new watertransport pipeline.
Approximately 9,000 pipes will be used throughout the project.
The pipeline will transport water to fill former open-cast mines.
The two resulting lakes are expected to reach their target water level around 2070.
This is a true long-term infrastructure project, combining complex underground construction, large-scale pipe installation and heavy lifting operations.
